Raising Teenagers: A Parent’s Survival Guide

June 26th 2010 in Personal Essays

As we head into a birthday weekend, I am reminded of a short essay I wrote that was included in Mixed Bag of Bones Vol. 2.  The last part of the essay went something like this:

Years ago, I traded in a well-worn edition of What to Expect When You’re Expecting for It’s Not Fair: Jeremy Spencer’s Parents Let Him Stay Up All Night.

We are now at a stage where we need Raising Teenagers: A Parent’s Survival Guide.

Other book titles that would catch my attention and grab hold of my wallet are:

  • Bootcamp or Band Camp? How to Raise a Responsible Teen
  • The Hell-Raising Truth About Raising a Hell-raising Teen
  • Tough Teens: How to Break Your Teen’s Spirit without Breaking the Law.
